Hi...hier ist mein Orcrist von United Cutlery....ein schönes Stück.

Ich dachte, ich hätte meine Bilder des Schwertes hier schon mal eingestellt, das war wohl aber noch "am anderen Ort".

Das genze Review schreibe ich jetzt nicht noch einmal, hier einfach nochmals die Bilder (unter Kunstlicht):

Die Schwertscheide zu Orcrist wird auch bald veröffentlicht. Unter der Artikelnummer UC2964 "Orcrist Scabbard" sollte das Teil demnächst zu bestellen sein.

Das Teil besteht aus Polyresin und Metall und ist innen mit Filz ausgelegt.

Die Homepage von UC gibt einen Listenpreis von $225 an, der Händlerpreis in den USA wird wie üblich deutlich darunter liegen (ich habe hier ein erstes Angebot von $119, Vorbestellung dort möglich ab 1. Dezember).

Wirklich wunderschön das Stück! Dieses Jahr gönne ich meiner SW Sammlung wohl auch ein neues HdR Schwert. :-) Die Repliken sind einfach zu schön gemacht, als dass ich sie ignorieren könnte. Selbst als Star Wars Fan. :-)

David, wie war nochmal die Beschaffenheit vom Schwertgriff? War der aus Plastik? Irgendwas hat mich damals abgehalten dieses Schwert zu bestellen...denn rein von den Bildern her hat es mir schon immer gefallen.

Ich glaub mich halten nur die 2353 tollen Hobbit-Statuen vom Kauf ab...

Ja, der Griff ist aus Plastik.
Das hat mich auch eine Weile vom Kauf abgeschreckt, inzwischen will ich mir das Schwert aber trotzdem zulegen. Sieht einfach viel zu gut aus.
Dazu noch die tolle Scheide !
@ David: Bei Smithblades oder Budk oder wo gibt´s das zu 119 USD ?

Aktuell wird nun der 31. Januar als Liefertermin genannt.

Ja, der Griff ist aus Kunststoff. Für mich der einzige wirkliche Negativpunkt an dem ansonsten sehr schön gemachten Schwert.

Meine damalige Beurteilung des Schwertes in deutscher Sprache ist leider im "Last Nirvana" verschollen, die englische Version habe ich aber noch:

The sword has a nice feel and lies pleasantly in your hand. In my personal opinion, the quality seems to have diminished somewhat compared to the LOTR line:

The blade doesn't have a surface as nice as the LOTR blades. It's hard to photograph, but if you see a source of light reflected on the surface, it appears to be corrugated. It could be that the grinding wasn't done properly or it could be a different type of steel, too - but that is just my guess.

The hilt is made of plastic and as others have already mentioned, it feels it. From a distance, it looks ok, but once you go closer, it does look like the plastic it is made of.

The engravings on the blade are painted with some purple color. This might be true to the original (I haven't checked yet), but I don't like the look of it. However, this paint comes off fairly easy when you clean the blade for the first time even with a non-agressive oil. If you use a stronger cleaner, it comes off completely.

The blade is very blunt compared to most LOTR blades (with the exception of the Uruk-Hai Scimitar, maybe).

Apart from these minor issues, I think the sword is ok for the price paid and I hope to find a place for it in my permanent display.
I would have preferred a wall plaque for horizontal display which I think would have suited the asymmetrical blade better (as with Hadhafang and the High Elven Warrior Sword). Maybe I'll make something on my own.

Der Preis ist von Derek Smith, aber die US-Händler schenken sich da ja meist nichts.
