RE: Maquette - MAGNETO

RE: Maquette - MAGNETO
Magneto and the Metals of the Marvel Universe He’s been known by many names: Max Eisenhardt, Erik Lensherr, Magnus, and most of all, Magneto. Magneto is the mutant master of magnetism and has full control of metals and the electro-magnetic spectrum. He’s so powerful that when Rogue kissed him and tried to take his powers, he didn’t seem to be any weaker. He has even used his powers to send out an EMP that covered the entirety of the Earth. Of all the fictional metals in the Marvel Universe, many of them are considered “unbreakable”. They are the strongest metals of mythical power with unique and unimaginable properties. The big four: Uru, Adamantium, Vibranium, and Carbonadium. Can Magneto manipulate them? Has he done so before? Let’s find out. Uru Magneto can manipulate uru. It has two forms: gold, and almost like wrought iron. He is more than capable of manipulating the natural metal of uru. Most comic fans are more interested in whether or not Magneto can manipulate Mjolnir, Thor’s hammer. To find out whether or not Magneto can bend the mystical mallet, first let’s look at the properties Thor’s hammer. Mjolnir is composed of uru, but it is also incredibly enchanted thanks to Allfather Odin’s magic. Of course, everyone knows that only the worthy can wield Thor’s hammer for themselves. It was also enchanted to be much more durable than standard uru, and it has the ability to absorb magic like a sponge. So can Magneto affect Thor’s hammer? Yes! Well- somewhat. He can redirect it when it is already in motion (as shown in the comic above), but he cannot affect or overcome the enchantment. In the Ultimates Universe, he’s manipulated magnetic fields to hold the hammer, but he does not unlock Mjolnir’s full potential in this way. Adamantium Magneto can manipulate adamantium. Magneto has always been able to affect adamantium. This happens in many of different stories, including when Magneto slowly pulls Wolverine’s adamantium-coated skeleton straight out of his body. And once Magneto has the adamantium, he can use it however he wants. Adamantium is a man-made steel alloy that is virtually indestructible. It is a classified government secret that was used to enhance Wolverine. Adamantium was also used in one iteration of Captain America‘s shield, and Magneto was able to completely control it. This, of course, was Cap’s old shield made of Proto-Adamantium, a mix between adamantium and vibranium that had just enough ferrous metal in its composition to allow Magneto control of the object. Vibranium Unlike adamantum, Magneto cannot manipulate vibranium – not if it’s pure. Vibranium is a rare, extraterrestrial metallic ore. It has near-mystical properties that allow for energy manipulation and more. There is a Wakandan isotope and an Antarctic isotope, and both of them are completely affected by Magneto’s powers. Most notably, Magneto cannot affect Captain America‘s vibranium shield, and he cannot affect Black Panther‘s suit. Magneto has such a refined control of his powers that he can manipulate the iron in people’s bloodstreams. They’ve even showed this horrifying ability in the X-Men movies. However, vibranium seems to be able to block that ability and protect its contents. When Magneto tried to affect the iron in Black Panther‘s bloodstream, he was unable to do so due to Black Panther’s suit being made from pure vibranium. Carbonadium Magneto can manipulate carbonadium. At least, it’s very likely. As mentioned earlier, adamantium’s formula is a government secret. However, that didn’t stop other governments from trying to imitate the formula, similar to Captain America‘s Super Soldier serum. Carbonadium was the Russian attempt at creating adamantium, which resulted in this ultimately less pure form of adamantium. Carbonadium does have its own unique and interesting properties. It is significantly more malleable and flexible. It’s also a cheaper version of adamantium, but still makes Omega Red an incredibly dangerous threat to the X-Men. That said, Omega Red is no threat at all to the ever-powerful mutant master of magnetism. No one can get in the way of Magneto’s plans. Quelle: Sideshow.com |
